Inclosed you will receive agreably to your request this Letters to the several Governors of the eastern States, as also two letters from Mr White one on public Service [undecipherable] sent by me —
Nothing particular has [undecipherable] since you left us— the case of General Knox I flatter myself will be closed tomorrow. the charges which the General makes for extra pay appears to me to be just, and those for his servants he is willing to Certify to, & I do not find them on the file.

I arrived here as I expected on wednesday — and am very anxious to be informed of the business — tho my own has requires so much of my attendance yet I would by no means abate that of the public suffer — Seek to be informed whith- er my attendance will be wanted within the three weeks — and that you would if you think necessary consult the Commiss- ioners of the Treasury on the subject as I wish to stay here as long as I can please to present my Compliments to the gentle- men of the office, and remember to direct to me at this place to be left at the post office in Hartford — I am Dr Sir your Obt
