Dr
You will oblige me much by sending an answer
as soon as your business will permit to the following
Questions — Captain Robert Pilton has been Stop'd
200 Dollars, which I have an order to recieve and has
informed me that he is not in Debt to Hartley —
he is in Debt on the [undecipherable: probable reading "commissary"] service to this State —
Edward Evans was a Soldier in the [undecipherable] regiment
and Col. Hay's Corps in 1778 — he is dead & his relations
say he was in the 6th in 1781 and went to the Southern
Army — I should imagine the rolls of the 6th will
point out what has become of him — James Smith
a Soldier of the 10th was a prisoner 9 months in the year
1780 and informs me that he has not been accounted
with [undecipherable] pay for said time and prays to know
how he is to get [undecipherable] — I have promised to give answers
to all these questions in hopes that you could point out
the way direct.
I am Dr
Yours with respect &c
Jos: Howell Depy [undecipherable] Hampton.
