New York September 21^st 1785 Dear Sir In answer to yours of the 8^th I need to inform you that the Petition of Sundries by [undecipherable] and were referred to one by Congress to report — and the Petition of another [undecipherable] look at which never reported on, That those Officers as "agreeable to the present rule of Congress [have] no pro[per]ty of half pay" — Those reports I believe were not acted on; — [undecipherable] therefore for M^r Nicholson to await the decision of [undecipherable] as the object — I took up the money from M^r Platt on the first receipt of your Bills, if therefore the payment had been delayed a week or two longer, it would not have been any inconvenience as my Note will not be due sooner — I am much obliged to you for the trouble you have taken in my business, and hope you will not fail to command me on any occasion — Let Pickering answer [undecipherable] last [undecipherable] — M^r Hodzden
