[Sir]
There being considerable sums of money, charged to your accounts for the pay of General Hazen's Regiment unaccounted for, and there being nine thousand Dollars received by you of M.r Palfrey in July 1777, which has not been charged to the account of the pay of the regiment, or any other account appearing in the public Offices and which stands in full force against you. As you may have advanced this & more than this sum to Gen.l Hazen or to some Officers of his regiment [strikethrough: or persons]; and are undoubtedly able to account with the public for all your payments, and as the recruiting accounts of Gen.l Hazen may possibly be delayed for your settle=ment; I am to request your particular attention to the subject of this Letter and that you bring on your accounts & Vouchers to this place [strikethrough: immediately] for [undecipherable] adjust=ment.
