[To M^r Hodgdon 2^d.] [Sept. 1785] [Copied] [(4)] N York Sept 2^d 1785 Dear Sir I Having receved yours by last Post and M^r Gerry has paid into my hands 14 ³⁰/90 Dollars on your account. Two of the sertificates counterfeited throughout were presented this day and are now in [my] possession — one of them there is, the original paper, [the other is of] a different nature — they are brought from Newberry Port — Massachusetts and were brought by Jn° Welles of [Wallgute?] [del.?] 16. 1784 — [strikethrough: text] and sertificates I am determined to send into the State and pursue them thro' the different [channels?] they [have been?] [passed?], and detect the transactions if possible. As you have also had presented to you some of the same kind you will oblige me if you can inform who presented them and thro' whose hands they had been delivered — as well as the number & circumstances of these certificates should you have taken any memorandum of them.
