Agreeably to your request of the 19th inst. which reached me the 20th I have examined the Musters &c of Col. Moylan's Reg. and find that John Carroll is Mustered the 6 June 1779 from November 1778 to that period, and continued till the 21 Decemr 1780 when it appears by the Pay Rolls he was discharged —
The Musters of this regiment are very imperfect (and but few in the Office) on File excepted which is for July 1780, those are complete, and mention the date of Inlistment of each Man — Carroll is not in those Musters, therefore must suppose he was one of those that inlisted in the Fall of 1778, or perhaps might have been transferr'd from the Infirmary —
