Brothers
The occasion of this Speech would
justly meet your resentment, of it did not make
us both sorry and ashamed — Billet Nation,
your Flesh & Blood hath been treacherously kill'd
by one of our People who ran immediately away
in the Woods — We have sent young Men after him
and order'd to put [him?] that Briar out of the Road
of his taken. Therefore we hope [the] Road between
us may not be Stopt, or this Chain of Friendship
broken on account of one Villain — You may
assure yourselves we are sensible of, and upon
our peoples
have [undecipherable] shown towards you for a long time, which
certainly entitles you to the like treatment from us
and you may also assure yourselves we are hum=
=bly sorry for what has happened, and are as
anxious [your] Blood which has been spilt as
you could be yourselves. And we once more beg
that you will look over what has been done —
So that we Shall take each other by the Hand as
Brothers. [and] smoke together in peace! —
[I the Billet Nation, we note of consolation with [undecipherable] Bidding]
