[Copy] New York July 7 1785 Dear Sir Your favor of the 20 Ulto came to my hand on yesterday having referred the Board of Treasury of the time your have given for the accounts to be brought in; they apprehended [undecipherable] with your reason for fixing it at so long a period; [undecipherable] and your business as I also mention as [undecipherable] and ministerial visits; I will be very agreeable in many views; and about your bring Mr. Dunscomb with you it will be still more agreeable. The Treasury Board thinks it not proper to give out copies of our Register to individuals, as by that means an [undecipherable] advantages will be given to a [undecipherable] over the rest of the community and the things too [undecipherable] the Public life [undecipherable] to request impositions. I shall not therefore deliver the copy of your Record to Capt [Neard?]. The numerous counterfeits of my Certificates has occasioned [undecipherable] letter so great a demand for the originals [undecipherable] of the [undecipherable] same, that I requested you in my last letter to forward me a copy of yours: the necessity still continues may oblige me [undecipherable] requires you forward it as soon as convenient.
