Sir, I arrived here on Sunday last with the Office which is now fixed in this City I received your favor of the 11^th Ins^t on Monday — annexed you will receive a Certificate from me of the actual amount that the Certificates mentioned in your letter signed for it appears that N^o 2022 has not only been altered in the sum but in the name — I wish it were possible to get at the root of this great evil, but much fear it cannot be accomplished. I however beg you to continue your laudable enquiry, and rest assured that every attention on my part shall be paid to them — You will please to direct your letters to John Pierce Esquire, 4^th Mem^t as all letters for him on public service are free.
