By the United States in Congress Assembled Jan^ry 15^th 1786 [Ordered] That the Commissioners instructed to [hold a] Treaty under the resolution of the [8th?] of last [last?] with the United Indian Nations for the survey of [Simons?] from them a cession of Lands, be and they are hereby authorized and directed to annex themselves, if the Cherokees, if the [Mays?] and the [frontiers?] committees to their [forces] to make such cession as extension — [liberal?] as [possible?] 2^d That the Board of Finance take order for the Purchase of goods in addition to those on hand as [yet? to?] be [laid?] and those [shares?] to be purchased by the resolution of the 19^th of March last, for the purpose of [carrying?] [on?] and [duly?] into effect, to an amount not [exceeding?] 3 000 dol[lars?] 3^d That the Board of [Finance?] take order to purchase of provisions, [other?] force for the subsistance of the [said?] Commissioners with their followers to an amount not [exceeding?] 1,500 Dol[lars?] 4^th That the Board of Finance take order to answer the drafts of the commissioners of the [State?] for the pay of the Officers, Messengers, Interpreters [and?] officers in their [own?] [list?] exceeding 1,500 [dollars?] 5^th That the Board of Finance take order for contracting upon the best terms [they?] can for the [rooms?] to be [so?] [kept?] [paid?] [gain?] to be [placed?] at in the Treaty [may?] be [made] or [such?] other places as the Commission, on the time that proper use also for the [furnishing?] of the [rooms?] and [their?] to pay that may be [necessary?] for [officers?] [of?] [other?] due same Treaty 6^th That the Commission [General?] [that they?] are [strictly] authorized and directed to make [within?] [their?] regulations [for?] the management of the Treaty and [the?] government of all those who attend it 7^th That they endeavor to obtain from the [Indians?] [the?] [page break] [speeches?] [to?] [them?] to [settle?] a [Statement?] of their right[s?] and to [settle?] the said [country?], [guaranteed?] [letters?] down in their acceptance of the Virginia cession, down to [from?] [Grant?] thereof, and [repeat?] the same, that [they?] administer to the said Inhabitants the following of allegiance — [So solemn?] [Swear?] [affirming?] that I will be true and faithful to the United States [and States?] of America, that I renounce all allegiance and [dependence?] upon any foreign [Power?] or Potentate whatsoever, and that I will as becomes a good Citizen, protect the said United States from all attacks, and invasions from [of?] other Powers 8^th That they prohibit the settlement of all persons not properly authorized for that purpose upon the unappropriated lands of the United States and that they cause to be circulated in the said Country the following Proclamation (The printed Proclamation of W^th there are no copies is enclosed) That the Secretary at War be and he is hereby directed to order the troops in the service of the United States to be ready to march at such time and to such place or places, as the said Commissioners or any two of them shall direct That the fourth of the instructions given to the Commission on the 15 of October 1783, be and it is hereby repealed (Sig^d) Cha Thomson Sec^y
