Bond Fish at Albany [With haste] [Seal] [Postal notations, lower right, largely undecipherable] Dear Sir War Office June 12.^th 1785 I am informed by Major North that forty or fifty Prisoners are daily offered at Fort Stanwix and that the Provision which was lately drawn by Captain Lane for their Subsistence is lying somewhere on the road between Albany and that Post— As this Provision is the only Supply we have to depend on for the Support of the Prisoners and as there is no Person engaged to take charge of it on their accounts, I must request the favour of you, as you live by the place of deposit, to appoint some Person whom you can confide to distribute it in due Proportions to them as they come in. Captain Brinkammick being on the recruiting Service could probably undertake the Superintendance of this Business without injury to his other duties, but if this you will be the best judge.
