Dear Sir Philadelphia May 9. 85
As I shall be much engaged tomorrow morning on private business I have requested Mr Potts to answer yours of the 5th Inst. He will also send you the account of Capt. Walton— By Capt Milborne I have received Letters from Mr Pierce, and among the rest is one for you, this letter being franked I have sent it, the postscreate in Order to save you money as I find by your last that I over ly pay a visit to the Commrs. at Annapolis as well as at Philadelphia.
I cannot divine what Mr Dunscomb wants by the Officers of Haylans regiment who received the Certificates of Depreciation &c horhafs he objects that part of that Reg. has rece: the final settlements and wishes to have those belonging to Virginia if this is what he means it cannot be complied with as Pennsylvania has settled for Depreciation for all the Officers Soldiers so finally and I have settled them regimentally & gave Certificates to the Agents of the Line, those Agents are now about settling their accounts with the State.
