Sir [underlined] I received your letter of last post with its enclosures as also your former letter, in which you express an opinion that no further explanation respecting the charges against Captain Richard Waters can be given _ I can not but differ from you on this head as it is Evident there were two officers of that Name one of which belonging to the Virginia line was a prisoner _ I have Enclosed a receipt for Dennis Carsons certificate & wish you to forward me the whole of those remaining in your hands returned by the Agent of Invalids & I will transmit a receipt for them _
