In answer to your favor of the 4 Inst I have to inform you that I examined the Accounts of Col. Trumbull and find that Genl. Patterson (while Colonel) received sundry Sums of Money for pay of his Regiment in the Year 1776. but as those Abstracts do not specify the amount of pay due each Company, I cannot give you the necessary information respecting the Order of Genl. Patterson in favor of Capt. Sullivan — if Capt. Sullivan can inform you what Month the Abstract was drawn for that the seventy two pounds was to be deducted from; I may be enabled to trace the affair — I do not find that Capt. Sullivan recd. the Money
