I received a Letter from M^r Pierce dated Charleston the 22.^d Feb^y last he expects to finish his business by the 1^st of May, and has desired the Office to be at N York agreeably to order from which I expect to pack up in about one Month from this — John White Esquire Jos. March 1785 Sir Inclosed is a Copy of the Registers agreeably to the Numbers you left with me for Certificates issued by M^r Pierce to sundries of the N Jersey Line, not included in those transmitted from this Office some time since — I have great reason to believe that those noted in the eighth Column. "Transferred to the Jersey Brigade" were of the Line of New Jersey, as Col. Spencer's Reg^t to whom those Men belong were chiefly raised in that State; and those remarks made by the Agent who settled the Accounts who from memorial have had a Knowledge of their being actually transferred, this however may be ascertained by a reference to the Registers in your possession — The Registers from N^o 38,57 to 88,57 [undecipherable] are mislaid, the amount issued is mentioned in the 7^th Column; & as they were a part of Commutation, I expect you will not need them for the present.
