stay in Georgia is like to be much longer than was at
first expected, the frequent applications of Citizens &c.
to Congress for pay require your presence, inclosed is
one from John Buchanan with the order of Congress
thereon, as I know nothing of the Services of this gentle-
man I cannot form any report. Pray finish your
business speedily and do not continue in a climate
that I am sensible will injure your Constitution al-
ready delicate. . . . .

Inclosed you will receive a Resolve of Con-
gress in favor of the late Col. John Lawrence, and agre-
able to your Request I have sent you the charges against
the Officers of the St Carolina Line for pay and sub-
sistence recd in 1781. I am very sorry Mr Pierce is
detained in Georgia as his presence is absolutely
necessary here, arising from the number of application
to Congress and which are referred to him to report —
