Officers of the invalid Corps

48 Annapolis Feby. 25. 85 Dear Sir Be so kind as to inform me whether Officers of the invalid Corps receives the five years full pay exclusive of the half pay allotted them for life–This Question takes its use from the cir=cumstance of several Wounded Officers of this line (who are considered on the Rolls in the same light with others & derang’d by the war Office Returns at the same period) now receiving half from the State on Continental account–This is a point on which I am in doubt & which must be Ascer=tain’d before I proceed to close the Accounts of those in that predicament–The Question in short a=mounts to this; are Invalid or wounded Officers to receive both Commutation and half pay for life? If you can Inform me on this head I wish it by the first opportunity—— Jno. White Jos. Howell Junr.
