Commissrs in Office Jany 12th 1785.
Agreeable to your request, I have inclos'd a true discription of two Certificates sign'd by Sr. Pierce Esqr Commissioner — It appears evidently that the Certificate Number'd 22043 Originally in favour of David Adams has been altered both in name and sum that the author of the Knavery has by some means or other extracted the name of David Adams, and placed therein Henry Dearbourne, in order that the Certificate might pass unsuspected as such, sums were found to appear of Henry Dearbourne's Rank — The other Certificate Number'd 12802 appears clearly to have been altered from the sum of 875 Dollars [undecipherable]
