December 5^th 1784. Sir I have the honor to inform your Excellency & the Honorable Council of the arrival of the first Detachment of Pennsylvania Troops, composed of Captain [undecipherable] Company of Artillery & [undecipherable] Finney's Company of Infantry at this place on the [undecipherable] Octoker last — The Second Detachment, composed of Captain [undecipherable] & Captain McCorky's Companies of Infantry arriv'd here on the [29]^th of the same month — We have remained in this position till this day, in readiness to [undecipherable] of the Commissioners [undecipherable] they are just arrived, and upon a consideration [undecipherable] of the Season of the Year, the [undecipherable] of Supplies, [undecipherable] of transportation by [undecipherable] to Cayahoga; they have resolved to hold the Treaty at Fort McIntosh, Thirty Miles distant from Fort Pitt down the Ohio River — In consequence of this Resolution, the Troops marched this morning from the Encampment [to] Fort McIntosh; the [undecipherable], [undecipherable] is to go by water — Mr. [undecipherable] [undecipherable] to the Commissioners was dispatched [undecipherable] to Cayahoga, with an Invitation to the Indians to assemble at Fort McIntosh — The Fort is in very bad order, & will require considerable Repairs before the Troops can have comfortable Winter Quarters — [undecipherable] your Excellency & the Honourable Council, will be pleased to receive a Return of the Pennsylvania Troops, likewise a list of all [undecipherable] with their designations, [undecipherable] since the Corps was rais'd — Lieut. [undecipherable], I have ordered to [undecipherable] his Command & have written [undecipherable] to the Secretary in the War Office for orders in his case, as a General Court Martial cannot be convened for his Trial — The list of Deserters is indeed very considerable, owing to the extreme hurry in raising the Corps.
