[From Doct. Ledyard / 1. June 22. 1784]
[addressed:] N York June 2[2]
John Pierce Esqr
[undecipherable] Pay Master General
Dear Sir
The Commissioners for Settling the Accounts of the Troops of this State are now setting in this place, which I unfortunately did not know when you was in Town, because a Certificate from you is required by the Law, that you have paid to no person, but for the year 1782. I shall be much obliged if you'll furnish me with a Certificate to that amount for the following Persons, or if you have paid Salaries to any other Persons named for more than the year 1782, then be kind to give the Certificate for such of us only, as you have not: Isaac Ledyard, John Benner, Isaac [undecipherable], John Dalamatier, John Fitch, John I. Wright, John Brown, Thad White, Mary Lake, Dinah Brown. I am afraid the Commissioners will rise before I can get the Certificate from you. If so, will then you oblige us very much to send it by the first Post.
I am Sir Your Obedient
& very Humble Servant
Isaac Ledyard
