[Letter from Donaldson Gates dated 19 Octo 1794] Kent County Mary^ld 19. Oct^o. 1794 D^r Sir Inclosed you will receive a State of the sale of the Public powder at Elk and the Certificates I have received in paym^t; a small ballance of the Amount of sales is yet to receive which my engagements on other buisness has prevented my attending to settle for, but shall soon be done. A M^r. Huggins at Elk whom I rented the store for the Artillery carriages &c is impatient with me to get the store cleared for his own use and says I must move them: pray as these Articles are paying a considerable tax in store rents and some of them of small value can't you gain some other disposition decisive for them, as well the shott and shells on the Susquehanna as I am Apprehensive of waste and the[y] will be [false of] any property not immediately under the Eye of an Officer, or stord and locked, I would have forwarded you the sales sooner but as M^r.
