I am not accurately inform'd of the quantitys of goods to be transported to fort Schuyler, pursuant to the orders of the Indian Commissioners, nor whether boats can be hired or must be built at Schenectady for that purpose, and therefore cannot precisely determine the expence thereof. But from the information I have received, I suppose that goods & stores with the baggage of the troops, who will accompany them, will be from fifteen to twenty tons. For this service & contingencies, not to be foreseen I am of opinion it will not be safe to trust to a smaller sum than eight hundred dollars in cash, to furnish me with which I request you to take the necessary [undecipherable] measures immediately, or I wish to transmit the money by the commissioners, [undecipherable] or the officer having the [undecipherable], who may [undecipherable] this afternoon.
