I find that t'is intended to hold treaties with the Indian nations very shortly. That I may be able to make the necessary arrangements in my department, without loss of time, I request your answer to the inclosed questions; together with such farther infor-
mation as may be useful in promoting this service.

Of the troops raising for the frontier posts —
1. How many, with the numbers and ranks of the officers, will march to Fort Pitt?
2. How many to fort Stannix?
3. How many will attend the Indian Commissioners to Cuyahoga [or other place] on Lake Erie?
4. Are there any other, & what, destinations of those troops?
5. When will they march for, & how long will they remain, at any or all of those places, respectively?
6. What quantities of goods, stores & provision will be carried by the Commissioners to those places respectively? Or, in other words, what boats & carriages will they require for their service, on each route?
7. Will the provisions which shall be contracted for in this service be delivered by the contractors at every place of consumption, Or only at some general depositaries, and from thence require transportation at the public expence?
