Com. of Military Stores in Philadelphia] [Rec. 6^t by [undecipherable]] Turners Creek Kent County Aug. 23. 1784 Sir I am to Acknowledge the Rect. of yours of the 12. and 15. Inst. on the subject of the sale of the Public Powder formerly acquainted you I had moved the Powder from Elk (under your direction) to a place of deposit in this County — It is my opinion as most Public Creditors are situated in the neighbourhood of Elk the sale will be attended with most Advantage there to the States — but as I have only this morning Rec^d your directions for the sale time enough to Acknowledge the same by this days Post, it will be impossible for me to have the Powder transported there by the twenty fifth I conclude in this Case to postpone the sale for a time only sufficient to transport the Powder and give a General Notice in every other matter your directions shall be attended to — I am Sir with the utmost Esteem Sam.
