Mr Blankinship
Philadelphia 6 Cl August 1784 [remainder of line undecipherable: with the making for &/payment of this period?]
Dear Sir,
I have recd yours of the 2. I Should be much obliged if you would acknowledge the rec. of mine, though I have no doubt but that my letters go safe, and it would have given me satisfaction to have heard you rec. that of the 27 of last Month, because I sent under your cover a letter to Mr Remsen in which were enclosed fifty guineas —
I find Mr Kilby was ill informed respecting the Salary of the Secretary to the commission for treating with the Indians. Gen. Butler affirms me the Salary is not fixed and I am well persuaded that off. W. Campbell's letters honestly with receiving 1850 dollars per an. he will find himself greatly disappointed. I thank you for the trouble you took in making out three copies of the commission. They will be all that will be wanted as I have had three more books cut.
I am, Sir, Your, affectionately C. T.
