Trumbull in the year 1777; [undecipherable] this [undecipherable] I drew the money; and it is [undecipherable] certain (I believe) that you'll find by examining, that this account is [undecipherable] settled by M^r. Woodward, our paymaster [undecipherable] (who is since dead) the money was drawn [undecipherable]. Inclosed is a copy of the Receipt M^r. Woodward gave me; which M^r. Trumbbell informed me at the time would be [undecipherable: sufficient] for my security — The [undecipherable] receipt which I took for the moneys, I delivered M^r. Woodward on his giving me the Inclosed Receipt — The [undecipherable] Receipt in full, I some time [undecipherable: since] forwarded to your office which were [undecipherable: returned] as not [undecipherable] in Settlement.
