To Mr B Bankson Philada July 20. 1784
I have recd your letter of the 12 with the papers enclosed which I have perused & I understand — I am glad to find the painter has finished the journals of last Session. I hope he will now take up and finish what remains of 1783, and that he will use so much dispatch as not to be too long in compleating it. Mr Jay has called on me to settle for accounts of the journey. He says he delivered the Volumes of 1775 to [undecipherable], desired the Secy to examine what memorandum [undecipherable] No 1727. 1728 therein of the delivery & to write to me —
I am &c —
