Botten green, July 18^th 1799 Dr Sir, My friend Cap't. McConnel has informed me that Lieut Col. Antill has at this late hour exhibited with a great Number of the Officers of Hazen's Reg't. what foundation he has for his Charges ag't. the Other I know not, but for my own part I totally deny the [undecipherable] knowledge of the rect of any Cash from Col Antill except what he has or ought to have my rec't. for — however if Col Antille has made those Charges [undecipherable] not from my knowledge of his Character but he will deliver [undecipherable] him, in that Case to the matter between him & I can only be decided by a direct inquiry into [undecipherable] our Characters with respect to honesty [undecipherable] probably — my [undecipherable] was [undecipherable] aided in the [undecipherable] Duty in Camp where you will me Charged in Mr Johnsons Books with a warrant for 808 Dollars which was a Balance in my favor on the Settlement of my Recruiting accts.
