[Noble Benedicts Letter to John White, June 18, 1784] Danbury June 10^th D 1784 M^r John White Sir I have wrote to Cap^t John Couch and Informed him that there was money which he had accounted for Two times over as appears by your Books viz about Nineteen Pound Lawful money and he hath Come over to Danbury & would Take it very kindly of you if you would act for him and Get all mistakes Rectified in your office and to Enable you to act for him he hath here with Sent you a General Power of Attorney to act for him your Trouble & Cap^t Couch will be you Satisfy for I think it is best and it is more agreeable to Cap^t Couch to have a Proper Certificate from your office that the Refund moneys on accounts for in your office Directed to the Treasurer of Connecticut your Compliance will greatly oblige Cap^t Couch as well as your humble Servant Noble Benedict P.S. yours Truly — and at Present and with one kind this best Regards to you Cap^t Couch Says that he hath never had any Depreciation moneys made up to him and hath accordingly Sent a Certificate attested & hope you will Do the best for him you Can on all accounts
