Philadelphia, June 7. 1794
Sir,
In answer to your first Question what allowance the children of the late Major Ball shall recieve from the public, I must refer you to the Resolves of Congress of August 17. 1774 & August 24. 1780 by which you will be informed that the allowance granted is seven years half pay to be made up or paid by the State to which the Officer belonged. —
In regard to his accounts provisions to his Death I find that McJures rect. has drawn some arrears of subsistence due amounting to 56th dolls [strikethrough: last af] [strikethrough: Morgan] that on his way to Virga he recived from one Lee hundred & ninety five Dols & Nominations, after which I am unacquainted with the State of his accounts, the State of Virginia under[taking] to close the Officers accounts of their Line & from a 1782 and a Deputy of mine in Virginia being to close them afterwards.
[Mr Aaron Ball Rockford.]
