Dear General Philadelphia 12 April 1784
I received yours in [undecipherable: probable reading "haste"] — The Bills [undecipherable] Jones will be presented timely to the [undecipherable] you direct your reasoning on the subject of the proposed alteration is conclusive the Miller shall also come on by the time mentioned I have demanded of Mr [undecipherable] a categorical answer relative to the Bills he will not positively accept them payable at any time, but [undecipherable] upon one he thinks he shall pay them within thirty Days — I have advised Mr Carleton to hold them till that time and if not paid, protest them which he has agreed to do — I hope you will approve of my advice — Capt [undecipherable] the Bearer of this will deliver you the two Barrels Superfine flour which I mentioned in my letter by Gen [undecipherable] it is of the first quality — the common [undecipherable] shall be with you Shortly as several Vessels are here loading for Boston —
