Dear Genreal
May two or three last Letters remain un= =swered, I am fearful they have Miscarried for I know you attention — By your Friend of God you will receive this. In one of the letters alluded to I informed you that it was the general opinion here that the Dimensions given by you for the Mill Stones were unanimously large numerically and not Scarce, and, requested further consideration on the subject before I engaged for them. I can have either those made in England or those made here by the time you will need them, and nearly at a price. Friend Moreton says the long risks are best — I have had a conference with a Man who by recommendation and appearance Seems qualified to undertake both the erection and working of the Mills. he is a Single Man about fifty or [undecipherable]
Englishman and believes he was regularly bred to every part of the buisiness. I Saw him Making the Burr Stones and he appeared well acquainted with that part — but I am not Sanguine, I have Seen too many English Bits — however, as his terms are Moderate Vizt One Guinea per week, if nothing more certain Offers and you approve of it I will engage with him for two Months and Send him to you — If you looked him I am inclined to think a half Guinea per week may engage him; please to let me hear from you on the subject as Soon as convenient — I have heard nothing farther either from Mr Carleton or Pettit relative to the Bills, I will take Such Measures with re= =pect to them as your Great may direct — I have repeatedly Mentioned Colonel Walch's matter to Mr Monys, but as yet nothing is done, I hope there will
will Shortly, if So I will advise both you & him
Nothing particularly new, no appointment to the Office you resigned, nor is it likely it will Soon take place, General Knox is looked at as likely to Succeed to it — trade begins to flourish — By Capt Starbuck in a Brig belonging to Nantucket I Shall Send you two Barrels of most excellent Superfine flour, and by Capt Cole two Barrels of the most common — both will probably Sail for Boston in eight or ten days —
With affection and esteem

I am as ever
Sir
your Most Obedient Servant
