March 17. 1786] [illustration: paraph] [opied] West Point March 17. 1786 D: Sir I recd from Mr Howell a resolve of Congress, which refers to another of the 2^d of January [the last mentioned] last - if you have such a resolution or a knowledge where it is, you will exceedingly oblige me, by communicating it as soon as possible - as my conduct appointment in granting the commutation may be greatly influenced by it. - I have two of your letters unanswered which I recd last yesterday - the first of the 18^th and the other of the 28^th of Ulto - I forward you Gen^l Woodfords account - I wish to suspend acting on your last letter until I see you, it not appearing by the resolve of Octo: b. 1780 that it was not intended to sustain [undecipherable: King Regents] Regt did not stand having any derangement; and the three last mentioned officers the late Secretary at War was considered in the Regiment of [undecipherable: Invalids] - I am d: sir, with esteem, Your Obed:^ient Serv: To [undecipherable] Carleton Esquire
