[March 17 1784] [To Maj De Brahm] [Copied] [undecipherable] [undecipherable] War Depart March 17. 1784 Dr Sir I yesterday recd your favor of the 18^th ulto. containing a narration concerning the seventy six & ⁹/₉₀ dolls of the Clothing — I have not the least hesitation in believing the account you gave me of the stoppages made from you by Mr Dart — but as I am a public Officer I am not warranted to act on this opinion, & but must have Mr Dart's certificate, that may be discharging you thereby bring into the amount of it — you will forgive me I conceive be convinced that it is improper for another reason, as it would be a precedent in the like case — I am much obliged for your polite regard to receive my any little benefits I may have, in Europe — and shall do myself the honor to trouble, about any [undecipherable] I am dr Sir, with respect, your Obd^t Serv^t Major De Brahm.
