Being informed by Captain McClure that you were put in charge of the Military Stores at his departure from South Carolina, I have to request you would as soon as convenient after the receipt of this, make out and forward to me, a Return of the Stores, and a State of the Department at your Post — you will please to note particularly the present state of the Stores, and the places in which they are deposited — that if necessary, measures may be taken for their Security — Should the Department be in debt, you will please to inclose me an Estimate specifying the Amount, and for what due —
