Sir
Enclosed is an estimate for Forage & Straw due Several Officers as therein expressed — I have August but laid before you an acct received from Colo Otho Hatch late D.Q.M. at Boston amounting to 291 50/90 Dollars which Sum by particular direction of Genl Lincoln he had paid for wood furnished the Guard at that place, as both the Genl & Col. Hatch have written to me requesting payment, it would eter it a favor if you would recollect the circumstance and enable me to comply with their wishes — The estimate for Virginia is also before you, if it were possible to take it up only partially, so as to enable me to dispatch Capt Kirk, who is waiting, it would be a Signal advantage, as many are anxiously expeiting his return, and the Situation of the army under his charge makes his presence absolutely necessary —
