[Certificate given to a Soldier dated March 9. 1784] [Copied] Office of Army Accounts March 9. 1784. This may certify that Leut. [undecipherable: probable reading Azariah] Eggleston late P.M. to the first Massachusetts Regiment, drew from [undecipherable] last [undecipherable] Dep. late D.P.M. the sum of 20.252 ²⁰/[undecipherable] dols in Money & the Notes of the Superintendent of Finance being for the pay of the Officers Non Commiss[ioned] Officers and privates of the said Regim^t from January 1. to May 1. 1783, which sum has not been accounted for, by the said Leut Eggleston or the balance of money remaining in his hands paid into the public. I do also certify that Elisha Arms was mustered a Private in said Regiment for the above mentioned time and [was] entitled to pay of six dols & two thirds a Month for that time— & that the said Leut. Eggleston has charged the said Elisha Arms in the settlement of the regimental accounts as [undecipherable] Agent for the same, with the said four months pay. 2/ 1 Sid
