Dear Sir,
In setting [strikethrough: accounts] with the Commissaries here, I find that I am charged with 47 [undecipherable] Dollars for — Dress Articles of Cloathing which have been [strikethrough: grants] to Dennis Harteke [?] of [undecipherable] by whom [undecipherable] that Deputy in St. Lardelin. I am therefor requested to ask that Deputy to a[ffi]dat in Relation to the Debt, also to obtain from [undecipherable] of any Subsistence Money or the Allowance for Servants Cloathing, to that attention Matter in a little — to furnish us and letting Affidavit upon my accounts due to settle here for which Claims. I have not kept any of the above Accounts, that the Deputy Paymaster has having calculated the amount of my Subsistence and compared it with Dates, after which I had a have letter me to be believed, have found, that there was not a Deduction charged against to the above — now written answer. I am requested to ask you for one of the Deputies here, however — on the Matter we may determine from the above account that Commissaries on my side in hereby relying on my Merits. I trust that my Pay would be little without that necessary Deduction from what I would be much obliged to you.
I hope for the best, intend to return to Europe — I hope to see you before that time, to receive your Compliments from you on any of these Fields. I am with great Respect
