Litton — June February 13. 1785
[Copy]
I have been honour'd with your Letter of the 16th December last, address'd to the late Secretary at War.
The resolution of Congress of the 30th September last, giving permission by Brevet, extends only to such Officers as were continued in Service after the 7th January 1783 — by comparing your returns with the last Arrangements of the North Carolina line, I find that Colonel Harke, Lt Colonel Lytle, Major Hogg, Captains Tharfode, Hall and Sharp and Lieutenants Camper have a claim under that act — the Brevets for these Gentlemen as well as Harrishment Commissions ascertaining the former rank of the other Officers continued on your returns, shall be given and forward to you without delay.
I have the Honor to be
Sir Your most obedt
and very Hble Servt
