Sir
Philada Febry 16. 1784
By a Letter from Mr Bengn Huntingdon dated New Haven 4th instant address'd to the Superintendant Denance, it appears there are a considerable number or quantity of Military Stores lying without regard on several places in the State of Connecticut, particularly in Hartford, upon receipt of this I have to request that you immediately make diligent enquiry for all such Stores & being found that you take measures to have them removed to Springfield & deposited under your immediate direction in common with those already at that depository, perhaps you may find it necessary to call on Mr Huntingdon for a particular enumeration of the places where they may be found, as several are alluded to in his Letter, if a personal application is necessary you will make it, the expences of which, with those attending any Stores that may be found shall be paid on receipt of the Accounts — have only to request, that in future by every possible means you will endeavour to prevent any farther applications of this kind in the Vicinity of your charge, as they are disreputable to the Dept at large — Make me a return of any that may be received in consequence of this [underline: Letter] —
