War D^t Court July 15 1784 I this morning recd yours of the 8^th — I have [on my part?] for [undecipherable] your return, & have you transmitted to M^r W^t Armon, and will send on M^r Morris's Notes your objections for the amount of three Months and also Nov^r & Decemb^r, when a safe opportunity presents itself. I will make the inquiry you request from the D^r W^r heir Department [undecipherable] for necessary and transmit [strikethrough: them] [undecipherable] and transmit the money [undecipherable] if possible to you at the same time I do the substantive If you make out your account for your rations in 1781, and give me order in favor of any person to receive the as[undecipherable] I will answer very purpore — you will draw your rations a day for the time at ¹⁰⁄₉₀ of a Dollar up to August 1^st 1781 and ⁹⁄₉₀ afterwards — I believe you omitted to send me the copy of the resolution of Congress, you requested my opinion on, as I cannot find it among your papers, inclosed in your letter — I believe you have already an account of all the monies drawn by you; but I am unable to give you the real value of these payments as they state on their old account with you will value that money agreeably to their own scale & the sign here adopted by them in their settlement with the lien, which I wanted now not possessed of, have you obtained an answer from Caldwell what was to be [to?] Massachusettsville [put to the?] number in the favor — if you have I wish to be informed what it was. It not being [undecipherable] to [in?] by delaying the decision of what you desire me to know for M^r Tilton — I wish to be informed as early as possible, whether he knows that the public pay their orders in my notes only, & whether I am to receive them in full consideration — your silence on this ground makes it doubtful if he knows what he is to be paid in — You need no apology for any little trouble you give me, my inclination would serve you if my office did not make it necessary, but in these instances I am only performing my duty.
