Sir
I have received the letter addressed to the Quarter Master General, and Ordered to be forwarded to him immediately — must inform you Colonel Pickering set off from West point for Morton on the 14 instant in company with General Knox and other returning Officers — previous to which, by letter he informs me that it was his intention to be in this City the beginning of February — The Post being gone and the probability of a special Messenger's missing him, obliges me to request your farther direction; If I or his Assistants at Camp can act upon the letter, it Shall be attended to immediately —
