[S]ome time ago I [trou]bled yo[u]
with a litt[le] enclosing a list of persons in th[e]
first [second] and third Massachusetts Regi[ments]
to whom I had fold good[s] Last August; fo[r]
pay of May June and July.
The present is only to remind yo[u]
of that occurrence &to save you trouble in [the]
payment of what is due to me.
M[r] Danferth PM of 2d Mas[s]t[s] Reg[t] w[rites]
me, that he is to recieve Certificates in th[e]
[course] of four or five weeks for that purpose. The [trouble]
I wish to save is, the signing of many Cert[ificates]
presuming that one is sufficient for each r[egiment]
The Vouchers I will lodge at your Office he[re]
the Certificates could be enclosed to your a[gent]
who will take care of them for me.
Should the above not be inconvenien[t with]
the mode you have adopted in this busin[ess] I
would prefer it to any other, especially
would [save] you much time.

Reg[iment] &these I could mark each Certif[icate]
to enclose. Hope nothing here contained m[ay]
