[Endorsement: Letter from Mr. Holt, 10 Jan.^y 1784] N. York 10^th Jan.^y 1784 Sir Yours by Col. Lubertale came to my Hands yesterday, and to Day I am informed by a Gentleman, that another Letter to or from you is in Town & will be forwarded to Night, with a Box of Papers for the Continent, which is now at a Tavern about 9 Miles from Town, but will be brought in to Night. When I receive it I shall lose no Time in getting it Printed, & shall begin upon it on Monday Morning, carefully observing your Directions. I wrote you last Sunday Morning, by our Attorney General; but was not certain he would call at West Chester therefore did not send by him the Letters & Packets for you to my care, by M^r. Andebault from Philadelphia; viz 9 Letters [undecipherable] you they were lodged [undecipherable] your Self, with [undecipherable] for Gov. [undecipherable: Trued?], [undecipherable] for another Gentleman and one [undecipherable] a sealed packet containing, as M^r. Abdebault writes me cost [undecipherable]'s Notes 1690 Dollars. But the Gentleman who gave me the Information about the Papers &c tells me a person is now going directly to West Point, with whom I may [undecipherable] send the Letters & Money I have for you — I have therefore [undecipherable] to know if the Gentleman will take them, if so I shall [undecipherable] them by him — The Messenger is just return'd & [undecipherable] West — The Gentleman will carry them to you, I shall therefore send them immediately & am Sir your most ob'd Serv't John Holt
