To Mr. Edward Wright

Sir, War Department, 15th March 1799

The President has appointed you to be factor of the Indian Shore at Fort Wilkinson known, on the River Oconee, in the room of Edward Price, deceased. As the death of Mr Price was sudden & unexpected, it is more than probable that the affairs of the factory are in very deranged shape. His, therefore, wished and expected that you would, without any delay, proceed to Fort Wilkinson and Lake of Jefferson of all the Books papers & effected belonging to the factory, and confirm to such regulations as shall for Edward to that place, and which you will finds with the commanding affier on your arrival there.

Should you arrive at Fort Wilkinson preview to your instructors you will procure those send to W Brice, and be governed by them. I am, Sir, Le [Signed] James Mc Henry
