                I have this
                 

                please to receive from John LucasEsq [flourish]: the comutation amounting of captain John Sleuman amounting to three thousand Dollars, which [undecipherable] Sleuman, paid in to the hands of said John Lucas, & to give duplicate receipts of the same, and keep it to at the orders of Joseph Howell Esq [flourish]: commissioner of army accounts  as Mr. Lucas mentioned by his letter of the 6th instant this communication was paid to him, you will also be pleased to pay Capt. Sleuman his pension as is specified opposite his name in the list transmitted to you
