Sir,
As the artillery at this command are distressed for clothing and as there is at present no deputy paymaster general appointed to the southern division, nor agent ot act in his capacity. I have it in orders from Major General Pinckney to request you to forward through Lieutnant House, the paymaster of the fift regiment of artillerists and engineers, or otherwise as you may think proper the clothing for which returns were forward to you on the 8th of last march by Lieut. Rodrigue, acting quarter, to the battalion here stationed.
