Description

War Office forwards letter from Joshua Humphreys informs naval constructor George Claghorn that he is to be cautious in shifting the mid ship dead wood; and not to place the butt near the station of the chain pumps. Serious consequences to safety of ship if she runs aground and injures the keel. Oakum could be drawn into the pumps.
