Sir,
At my request, Col. Rochefontaine has requested you to go to Hope Furnace in the State of Rhode Island, where some Cannon have been cast for the United States. He has furnished you with information respecting them, and the future operations at that Foundery, to which I request your particular attention.
The stipulation for your Services* (*Four dollars a day. T. Pickering) made by Col. Rochefontaine, I will fulfil.
I wish you to proceed to, and stay at the foundary, as long as your affairs will permit.
