I have not changed my salary
which is due me

I shall however be obliged to you to include it in any estimates you may make for the pay of the troops
your directions respecting the garrison
two boys indented to him
one about ten and the other about eight years old
mustered as privates in his detachment and are instructed to beat the drum and play on the fife
I have objected against their being paid to Col. Gaiter, who informed me that they have been borne on the rolls by his orders
that altho the artillery company in this county has a drum & fife, some other company of the Corps may want their services
that he directed that they should not receive any bounty nor clothing but the pay of privates with which they are to be clothed & supported
the reason for their having been indented
is because they could not be enlisted for a longer term than three years and as soon as they are of a proper age to do duty they will be regularly enlisted and their indentures will be given up to them
another reason that, when he directed
to engage them, he expected that the musicians would leave the country as soon as discharged
but they have reinvested
extremely anxious to receive an answer to my letter
particularly what relates to the arrears f the officers pay who have been promoted
send us some blank muster & pay rolls for company & detachment
